<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique that enables a supervisor to determine whether the subject of supervision is malfunctioning, without having to be stationed at the location of a supervisory device that supervises the subject of supervision, and a technique for enabling the supervisor to confirm that supervising action is taking place normally. <P>SOLUTION: While the subject of supervision is operating normally, a display device is controlled to a first display configuration (intermittent lighting) that allows confirmation that a network and the display device are normal.
