PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for assembling an elevator with a smoke blocking device in which the smoke blocking device not to impair the appearance is easily mounted in an optimum manner. SOLUTION: The method for assembling an elevator 1 with a smoke blocking device comprises a jamb installing step of installing a jamb 5 to form an entrance 4 between a hoistway 2 of a building and an elevator hall 3, a header mounting step of mounting a header case 7 on the hoistway 2 side of an upper portion of the jamb 5, a sill mounting step of mounting a sill 6 on the hoistway 2 side of a lower portion of the jamb 5, a hall door mounting step of suspending a hall door 10 to partition the hoistway 2 from the elevator hall 3 from the header case 7, and a smoke blocking device mounting step of mounting a smoke blocking device 20 to close a space formed between the hall door 10 and the jamb 5 with the hall door 10 being closed.
