PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an increase in electric power consumption which occurs when white luminance is increased and black luminance is decreased by changing the amplitude of a source signal in a liquid crystal display. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is equipped with an independent CC (Charge-Coupling) driven liquid crystal display panel and a compensation power source generating means 100 as an amplitude control means for controlling the amplitude of the compensation voltage applied to a compensation capacitor and is imparted with a signal to be applied to the display element by a signal applied from a source line and a compensation voltage controlled by the compensation power source generating means 100.
