PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module for efficiently performing optical coupling between an optical fiber and a light receiving element for receiving wavelength light and a method for manufacturing the optical module. SOLUTION: The optical module comprises a dielectric substrate on which grooves extended in vertical and oblique directions are formed, optical fibers 1a, 1b arranged so that respective end faces 1c, 1d are opposed to each other through a space on the upper part of the grooves and a dielectric multilayer film filter 2 fixed in the groove at a prescribed angle by a photo curing resin 4 and capable of reflecting a wavelength light beamλ<SB>2</SB>other than a specific wavelength light beamλ<SB>1</SB>. Lenses 9 for converging the wavelength light beamsλ<SB>1</SB>,λ<SB>2</SB>are respective arranged on the end faces 1c, 1d of the optical fibers 1a, 1b, the wavelength light beamsλ<SB>1</SB>,λ<SB>2</SB>passed through respective lenses 9 are converged and propagated and the wavelength light beamλ<SB>2</SB>reflected by the dielectric multilayer film filter 2 is optically coupled by the light receiving element.
