PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inorganic coating composition improved in abrasion resistance, heat resistance and weatherability each being problematic in synthetic resin-based coatings, and also enabling low-temperature film formation, impact resistance improvement and curing time shortening, all of which have been indicated as drawbacks inherent in inorganic coatings to be solved. SOLUTION: The inorganic coating composition comprises an alkali silicate of 3.5-10 in the molar ratio SiO<SB>2</SB>/M<SB>2</SB>O( M is Na or K ), a phosphate salt, calcium silicate powder and water. The amounts of the alkali silicate, the phosphate salt and the calcium silicate powder are 30-90 pts.mass, 1-30 pt(s).mass and 5-60 pts. mass, respectively, based on 100 pts.mass of the total solids of this inorganic coating composition.
