PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a release film for a medical application, using a polyester film as a base material, having excellent gas-barrier properties, and capable of being separated from an adhesive layer containing a medicinal component by a proper force; and to provide a method for producing the release film. SOLUTION: The release film for the medical application having the excellent gas-barrier properties and releasability is obtained by impregnating an aluminum oxide layer formed at least on one surface of the polyester film by a reactive evaporation method with a barrier resin, and forming a curing type silicone resin layer thereon. The release film for the medical application can be produced by forming the aluminum oxide layer at least on one surface of the polyester film by the reaction evaporation method, impregnating aluminum oxide layer with the barrier resin, and forming the curing type silicone resin layer thereon.
