PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum type washing machine detecting generation of bubbles in an outer tub at a low cost. SOLUTION: A current measuring part 47 measures a driving current of a motor 12 when the motor 12 rotates at a fixed speed during washing, and when the driving current of the motor 12 lowers a predetermined rate or more, detects that the bubbles are abnormally generated in the outer tub (inside the drum). In a case where the bubbles are generated in the outer tub during the washing, when laundry naturally falls from some extent of height by tumbling, the bubbles in the outer tub (inside the drum) interfere with the laundry to reduce the falling speed of the laundry and mitigate an impact when the fallen laundry collides on the inner surface of the drum and the water surface. Therefore, when the bubbles are generated in the outer tub during the washing, a load applied on the drum is reduced to reduce the driving current of the motor 12 for rotatingly driving the drum.
