<p>The safety coupling has a pair of coupling halves (5,6) abutting one another in an axial direction, the coupling halves held together via a number of equi-angularly spaced screw bolts (15), which are destroyed by relative rotation between the coupling halves. Each of the screw bolts has a deliberate rupture point (19) within the axial region between the 2 coupling halves, provided by a peripheral groove, a threaded section (15b) received in one coupling half and a section (15a) received in a stepped bore (16) of the other coupling half, having an end bore section (16a) which is narrower than the bore section (16b) adjacent the rupture point and at least equal to the diameter of the screw bolt.</p> |
