<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage type heat pump water heater capable of taking out the hot water for use from an intermediate temperature water tapping passage 35 with priority in supplying the hot water. <P>SOLUTION: A hot water supply control part 37 determines a temperature higher than a hot water supply set temperature ST by a predetermined temperature Δt, as a switching determination temperature KT, the intermediate temperature water mixing valve 34 is kept in standby in a state that it is communicated with an intermediate temperature water tapping passage 35 side, when a temperature of the hot water taken out from the intermediate temperature water tapping port 33, detected by a hot water storage temperature detecting sensor 36 is higher than the switching determination temperature KT, and in a state that it is communicated with a high temperature water tapping passage 12 side, in a case excluding the above case.
