PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for cutting a glass strand which is capable of uniformly supplying glass cut chips over the whole width from both end parts to the center part of a cutting roll without causing a problem that the glass fiber is caught in a gap between cutting edges and is not discharged when the glass cut chips having≤1/2 inch length are supplied. SOLUTION: In the glass strand cutting apparatus which has the cutting roll 1 having a cutting edge line having the plurality of cutting edges and formed on the cylinder surface and a receiving roll 3 arranged to be in contact with the cutting edges at a prescribed contact pressure and is operated so as to supply the glass strand 18 between the receiving roll 3 and the cutting roll 1 and to cut by pressing, a back roll 5 having a recessed part 7 at a place of the cylinder surface which is opposed to the cutting edge line is arranged to be synchronously rotated with the cutting roll 1.
