PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain accurate target drive quantity in the case of calculating the target drive quantity of a focus lens during the driving of the focus lens. SOLUTION: A focusing device comprises an operation means for calculating the target drive quantity of the focus lens by using the focus information of a photographing optical system, which is generated on the basis of the photoelectric conversion information of an optical image formed by the photographing optical system during the driving of the focus lens included in the photographing optical system and a position detection means for detecting the position of the focus lens. The operation means finds out the moving quantity of the focus lens from the photoelectric conversion of the optical image up to the calculation of the target drive quantity by using the position detection means and corrects the target drive quantity in accordance with the moving quantity.
