PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that when an alkaline dry battery is reversely mounted or incorrectly used, hydrogen gas or oxygen gas is generated and accumulated on the inside of the battery, and when a rupture preventing mechanism of the battery is operated, an electrolyte of strong alkali is ejected together with gas to the outside. SOLUTION: Non-drying oil or its mixture is placed in a gas ventilation passage in operation of the rupture preventing mechanism inside the air space between an insulating gasket and a negative terminal in the upper part of the alkaline dry battery. Thereby, ejection of the gas and the electrolyte is made gentle and the electrolyte can be neutralized by saponification reaction, and the alkaline dry battery having high safety can be provided.
