PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing calcium carbonate with stable qualities, exhibiting small dispersion of, e.g., the shape expressed by an aspect ratio of primary particles or the crystal state of calcite, aragonite, or the like, by blowing a mixed gas of carbon dioxide and air (mixed carbon dioxide) into lime milk. SOLUTION: A carbonization reaction is conducted by blowing a mixed carbon dioxide gas having a CO<SB>2</SB>concentration of 35 vol.% or higher into a suspension consisting of water and quicklime yielded by firing scallop shells or slaked lime yielded by slaking the quicklime, from a carbon dioxide jet port 16 of a carbon dioxide supply pipe 12 equipped with a carbon dioxide jet port opening and closing means 14.
