<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable printing particularly fit for the mode without wasting effects of the image quality improvement by a six-color mode from the relation to page setting in a printer which can print by switching a mode that employs a toner set of four colors of Y, M, C and K, and the mode that employs a toner set of six colors with a light cyan (LC) and a light magenta (LM) added to the basic four colors. <P>SOLUTION: When a page layout is N (N>1) sheets/page among setting items of the "page layout" (S1303), it is determined as four-color mode printing, and a printing designation of a job ticket is made a four-color mode. In other words, in the case where a plurality of pages are to be printed in one page, each page is printed small, often making it difficult to identify a printing image quality itself by the observation.
