PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the durability of a cell by reducing the amount of hydrogen permeating from a hydrogen electrode side catalyst layer to an air electrode side catalyst layer through an electrolyte membrane and by suppressing the direct combustion reaction of the hydrogen in the air electrode side catalyst layer.
SOLUTION: In a membrane electrode junction 1 of a fuel cell, the porosity of the hydrogen electrode side catalyst layer 11a is made to be smaller than that of the air electrode side catalyst layer 11a. To be concrete, the weight ratio of an ion exchange resin to a carbon carrier constituting the hydrogen side catalyst layer is made larger than that of the air electrode side catalyst layer. Otherwise, an additive of a prescribed particle size or less is contained in the hydrogen electrode side catalyst layer, or the hydrogen electrode side catalyst layer is formed by a spray coating of a catalyst ink and the air electrode side catalyst layer is formed by a transfer method.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
