<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constitute a highly flexible random number generating system by hardware. <P>SOLUTION: The system includes: means for latching a one-bit numerical value for as many as the number of the bits of a random number to be generated; a one-bit random number generating means attached to each means for latching the one-bit numerical value, so as to generate a new one-bit random number by logically calculating the random number being generated at present; and an algorithm determining means internally attached to each one-bit random number generating means, so as to determine an algorithm to generate the new one-bit random number. The algorithm determining means determines the algorithm in the logical calculation of the random number to be generated with respect to each one-bit random number generating means. Thus, each one-bit random number value generated by each on-bit random number generating means is latched by each means for latching the one-bit numerical value for the portion of the number of the bits of the random number to be generated.
