<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel moving image processing technique for separating a moving image into the foreground and the background even if there is a motion in the background as well, or even if an object which becomes the foreground does not integrally move but partially freely moves. <P>SOLUTION: A frame to be processed is divided into small regions, and a feature amount is extracted for each pixel of the frame to be processed. If each small region that the frame to be processed has is classified to judge which one of two regions each pixel belongs to by using the extracted feature amount, the small region is classified so that a likelihood indicating an extent of separation in the classification indicates a highest value. Continuously, a region separated into the same class is made corresponding to the adjacent small region using the feature amount and on the basis of the correspondence, the regions separated into the same class are linked with each other, thereby the entire frame to be processed is separated into the foreground and the background. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
