OPTICAL SCANNING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain enhancement of optical use efficiency and peripheral light intensity ratio while preventing performance deterioration by cost reduction and temperature change of a device in an over-field type optical scanning device. SOLUTION: The optical scanning device is provided with a semiconductor laser 1, a polygon mirror 7 which scans light fluxes from the semiconductor laser 1, a first image formation optical system which forms a line image with width larger than width in a horizontal scanning direction of one polarizing reflection surface of the polygon mirror 7 on a polarizing reflection surface and a second image formation optical system arranged between the polygon mirror 7 and a scanned surface 9 and constituted of one curved mirror 8. The first image formation optical system is constituted of a first conversion optical system 5 which makes the light fluxes from the semiconductor laser 1 into emission light in the horizontal scanning direction and convergence light in a vertical scanning direction and a second conversion optical system (third lens) 6 having positive refracting power in the horizontal scanning direction.
