PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EL display device capable of color display and capable of easily changing the light emitting shape. SOLUTION: The EL display device 1 comprises an EL luminous layer 15 having an EL emitter, an electrode part 12 arranged on one side of the EL luminous layer, and a conductive layer 16 which is arranged on the other side of the EL luminous layer and makes an AC field formed in the EL luminous layer by impressing AC power supply voltage. The EL luminous layer is constructed by arranging in parallel a set of luminous layers having mutually different emitting colors, the electrode part has a great number of terminals arranged in lines on the EL luminous layer side, and thereby by controlling the voltage impressed on the numerous terminals, color emission is carried out.
