PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric distance measuring type sensor which can prevent a wrong sensing being a sensing state at a position farther than a sensing boundary distance from occurring. SOLUTION: This photoelectric distance measuring type sensor 5 has a light projecting section 2 which projects an infrared ray, and a plurality of light receiving sections 4-a and 4-b which receive the reflective beam from an objective 6, and can measure a distance to the object 6. A plurality of the light receiving sections 4-a and 4-b are concentrically arranged of which the center is the light projecting section 2. Then, an operation for recognizing the existence/absence of the object 6 is performed by a control section based on a result of sensing the object by a plurality of the light receiving sections 4-a and 4-b. Only when both of the light receiving sections 4-a and 4-b sense the object, the "sensed" of the object is recognized. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
