The present invention provides a compound of formula I or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof wherein A, X, Y, Z, R², R³, R⁴, R⁵, and R⁶ are as defined herein. The compounds of formula I are useful as antimicrobials against a number of human and veterinary pathogens.
