[Also in Group XXIV] A manual control valve device comprises a casing having a plurality of radial bores 12-17, each containing a valve unit 39-44, Fig. 6, operable to supply or release fluid pressure, a cam ring 74 having an interior cam surface surrounding and co-operating with the units to control all of them simultaneously to obtain varying combinations of supply and release of pressure in the units in a predetermined sequence in response to manual movement of the ring. A rise on the cam moves a roller 63 on a lever 65 to seat a tubular member 54 on valve member 47 to close an exhaust opening and then lifts member 47 away from seat 50 so that pressure fluid at 10, Fig. 7, flows via an outlet, e.g. 8, to a motor. A fall on the cam allows spring 45 to close the supply member 47 and spring 53 to move the end of tubular member 54 away from seating position on member 47 and allow pressure fluid to exhaust from 8 via the inside of member 54 and ports 56 in member 54. The cam ring is rotated by handle 89 pivoted at 91 on a rotatable spigot 92 carried at the centre of the casing and biased by spring 103 to a central position, as viewed in Fig. 7, between two quadrants 105, 106. The handle has a cruciform portion 90, the arms 121-124 of which, Fig. 2, permit the handle to be held against stops 109-120 on the quadrants by rocking and turning on pivots 91, 92, whereby the valve units are operated in nine different combinations to obtain nine different positions of a piston in a cylinder connected to the power transmission of a truck.
