A metered dose inhaler comprises a canister a crimped cap covering the mouth of the canister and a drug metering valve situated in the cap, for dispensing an inhalation drug formulation comprising salmeterol, or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof, and a fluorocarbon propellant, optionally in combination with one or more other pharmacologically active agents or one or more excipients, said metered dose inhaler having part or all of its internal surfaces coated with one or more fluorocarbon polymers, optionally in combination with one or more non-fluorocarbon polymers and wherein the canister is a strengthened canister having a reduced tendency to malform under high temperatures, comprising side walls and base of increased thickness.
