The gap cover between an adjustable seat assembly and boot floor (4) has a cover element in the form of a plate (5,5',5) which is connected to the seat assembly by a spring element for longitudinal movement. At least one spring retainer (3) serves as the spring element and is pretensioned in such a way that the cover element acts upon the seat assembly by a spring force. Each spring retainer is fastened to the seat frame (2) and releasably connected to the seat assembly.
