999,639. Heat exchanger tubes. H. VAILLANT. July 5, 1962 [July 12, 1961], No. 25877/62. Heading F4S. In a heat exchanger for gas heated continuous flow water heaters, comprising tubes 1, 2, for continuous water flow, passing through a block of fins 3, the lowest portions of the tubes are shielded against radiant heat and the direct impingement of rising hot gases by tabs 6 each bent out from a fin 3 and extending to the next adjacent fin. Flanges 3<SP>1</SP> round the tube receiving holes in the fins 3 are soldered to the tubes 1, 2, cut-outs 4 in the fins facilitating soldering operations. Cut-outs 5 left in the fins below the tubes by the tabs 6, together with cut-outs 7 in the fin lower edges between the tubes, restrict heat transfer to the lowest portions of the tubes. Longitudinal U or V- sectioned secondary heat transfer surfaces having cut-outs 10, 11 therethrough are soldered inside the tubes 1, 2. |
