<p>A papermaking assembly has a broad-nip press consisting of two horizontal drums (1, 2) in contact. The lower press has a press shoe with a hydraulically-operated pressure system (33). The hydraulic system has a control system with a valve (41) pressure bleed. The two drums are essentially in orthogonal presentation. The hydraulic system employs oil of a predetermined viscosity. The press shoe has a pressure points organised in groups that facilitate the application or relief of pressure at different points and times within the nip.</p> |
