The invention relates to a ratchet device for an electrical component which may be adjusted by rotation, in particular, a rotary switch or a rotary potentiometer, comprising a leaf spring (4, 17), resting against a ratchet contour (3) by means of spring pressure, whereby the ratchet contour (3) is applied on the outer side of a symmetrical ratchet disc (2). The leaf spring (4, 17) substantially encloses the ratchet disc (2), rests diametrically on the ratchet disc (2) and the ends (5, 6) of the leaf spring (4) have an essentially radial embodiment, the leaf spring being otherwise free to move.
