发明名称 Improvements in or relating to the cutting of tubular fabric
摘要 928,402. Cutting-apparatus; layering fabrics. AUTOMATIC BRAIDING CO. (NOTTING- HAM) Ltd. Oct. 8, 1959 [Oct. 17, 1958], No. 33130/58. Classes 31 (1) and 42 (2). [Also in Group XXXIV] Apparatus for cutting fabric tubing into strip form comprises a mandrel, an endless flexible driving belt having a helical part disposed about the mandrel and providing two axially spaced portions extending nearly normal to the axis of the mandrel, a cutter adapted to operate between the axially spaced portions of the belt to sever the fabric tubing, and on the mandrel a rib or groove of similar helical form to that of the helical part of the belt and with which the helical part of the belt co-operates to effect the required advance of the fabric tubing on the mandrel. As shown in Fig. 1, a roll R of fabric tubing wound on an axle 3 carried by a rotatable stirrup 2 is threaded on a mandrel 5 and driven helically over the mandrel by means of an endless belt 7 which is wrapped round the fabric on the mandrel and guided by means of a helical rib 5a, Fig. 4, on the mandrel. The fabric is cut by a motor-driven adjustable disc cutter 11 into a continuous helical strip S which is drawn off the mandrel by means of rollers 12 and passes into a container 44. The belt 7 is led on to the mandrel by guide means 9 which are adjustable to vary the width of the cut fabric strip. Further guide means 8, 10 are provided for safety and check purposes and other guide means are provided to control the leading off of the belt from the mandrel. The mandrel may alternatively be provided with a helical groove in which case guide means such as 8, 10 are omitted. The belt 7 passes around pulleys 30, 31, 32, Fig. 4, mounted on spindles 34, 35, 36, respectively. The spindle 36 is driven from an electric motor 36b through belt and pulley means 36a and drives the spindle 35 through chain-andsprocket means 36c. Drive from the spindle 35 is imparted to the spindle 34 through belt and pulley means 35a, a spindle 35b and belt and pulley means 35c. Drive from the spindle 35 is also imparted through belt and pulley means 35d to a spindle 16a on which is mounted an infinitely variable type pulley for driving the stirrup 2 and fabric roll R. The rollers 12 and a trolley 45 supporting the container 44 are reciprocated in directions perpendicular to each other. The left-hand roller 12, Fig. 6, is spring- pressed into engagement with the right-hand roller 12 which is driven from the motor 36b through belt and pulley means 52, 53, 54. The rollers 12 are mounted on a slide 46 having a vertical slot 46a for a roller 47 attached to an endless chain 48 mounted on sprocket-wheels 49, 50, the wheel 50 being driven through belt and pulley means 51 from the pulley means 35a and spindle 35b. The slide 46 is movable on the spindle 35b by operation of the chain 48, the roller 47 riding up and down the slot 46a. The trolley 45 has wheels 70 riding on rails 71. Depending from the trolley are brackets 72 having slots in which ride rollers 73 carried by a pair of endless chains 74 driven through belt and pulley means 75, a spindle 76 and further belt and pulley means from the spindle 16a. A manually-operable waxing roller 177 is provided to facilitate the passage of the fabric tubing over the mandrel. The fabric tubing may be supplied in folded, instead of roll, form. The apparatus may, alternatively, be disposed vertically or at any other angle.
