An object of the present invention is to provide an organic EL device which has a plurality of highly fine pixels, does not have problems such as color blur or short-circuiting between positive and negative electrodes, does not require mask alignment, is easily mass-produced, is high quality and can be suitably used as display or the like. Another object of the present invention is to provide an efficient method of manufacturing the organic EL device. The organic EL device of the present invention includes a positive electrode; a negative electrode; a plurality of banks which is disposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode and insulates the positive electrode and the negative electrode; and an organic EL light-emitting material in a plurality of gaps formed by bank partitions, wherein if the distance between the bank partitions in the gap at the opening end is d, the distance between the bank partitions except at the opening end is d' and the distance between the bank partitions at the opposite end to the opening end is d", then at least one of the gaps satisfies d>d", and the distance between the bank partitions in the gap progressively satisfies d-d'≥0 from the opening end to the opposite end. <IMAGE> |
