he disclosed herein foot-exercising apparatus is set at the front of the seated passenger's feet to exercise them in airplanes or buses, while travelling. It is a kind of steady, unmoving, little bicycle made of lightweight metal or synthetic construction bare of wheels and composed of a firm adapted-to-the floor base 1, a pillar 3 perpendicularly adapted to the centre of the base 2, a horizontal shaft 7 rotating with two ball bearings inside the top of the pillar 5 and two bicycle pedals 8 separately adapted to the extremities of the shaft. By pressing the pedals with the feet, the shaft rotate and so do the feet, exactly as it happens with a bicycle. The shaft is loose inside the top of the pillar and its motion is unstrenuous as no oneaccessory tightens it. The free and effortless rotary movement of the feet stimulates the arterial and venous blood circulation in feet and impedes potential blood concentration and thrombosis in them. This apparatus may be a means for facing the risk of the DVT syndrome affecting economical class passengers. |
