In a fitting for a double-ended tubular lamp, two lamp holders 11, 13 are fixed to an elongated support 10 by the engagement of a spring strip 22 on each lamp holder with a supporting part 20 at each end of the support 10, the latter having guides 21 through which the strips 22 pass to engage the part 20, and by which their translational movement is restricted yet flexure of the strips allowed for the insertion of the lamp between its holders. Fig. 1 shows an embodiment in which end brackets 18 each support two lamp holders on projecting lugs 20, which engage in co-operating holes 23 in strips 22 after passing thereto along splits 24 extending from the free ends of the strips and terminating in further openings 25. Alternative shapes of the strip 22 are disclosed (Fig. 2, not shown), and other forms of engagement between the spring strip and supporting part are described, for example a ridge on the strip may engage a slot in the support, or a cut-out tongue on the strip may engage behind a projection on the support. |
