The process involves representing pixels of a picture in vectors, in a multidimensional space. The space has dimensions relating to chromatic and/or brightness components and does not have dimensions to represent same color at different chromatic saturation levels. The levels, corresponding to vector coordinates in different dimensions, of different chromatic components of successive pixels are selected. An independent claim is also included for a device for establishing a picture frame.
