The armrest (5) has a support arm extending along a longitudinal direction of a seat. The armrest is mounted on a backrest (12) by an articulation unit e.g. ball joint, that permits weak rotation of the armrest around a vertical axis (55) in providing an elastic effect for returning the armrest to its normal initial position. One part of the armrest is made up of flexible elastic material, while the remaining part remains rigid. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a motor vehicle console designed to be placed at proximity of a seat (B) a motor vehicle seat.
