A gaming machine has a display and a game controller arranged to control images of symbols displayed on the display. The game controller is arranged to play a game wherein at least one random event is caused to be displayed on the display means and, if a predefined winning event occurs, the machine awards a prize. The game comprises a bonus feature in which at least one meter, having a plurality of number positions, is displayed on the display and, by a predetermined selection process, a number from a set of numbers is selected and associated with at least one number position of the at least one meter. A decision as to which number position of the at least one meter is to be filled by which of the numbers from the set is made by the game controller, and completion of filling of the number positions of the at least one meter provides an indication of a prize won by a player.
