Disclosed herein are compounds of formula (I), formula (II) and formula (III), prodrugs of GABA analogs thereof, pharmaceutical compositions of prodrugs of GABA analogs and methods for making prodrugs of GABA analogs, wherein the variables shown in these formulae are as defined in the specification. Also described are methods for using prodrugs of GABA analogs and methods for using pharmaceutical compositions of prodrugs of GABA analogs for treating or preventing common diseases and/or disorders.
