New catalyst comprises a Group VIB and/or VIII metal hydrogenation-dehydrogenation component on a support comprising a zeolite and a silica-alumina matrix with a silica content of 5-95 wt.%, where the catalyst has defined physicochemical characteristics. New catalyst comprises a Group VIB and/or VIII metal hydrogenation-dehydrogenation component on a support comprising a zeolite and a silica-alumina matrix with a silica content of 5-95 wt.%. The catalyst has an average pore diameter measured by mercury porosimetry of 20-140 Angstroms, a total pore volume measured by mercury porosimetry of 0.1-0.6 ml/g, a total pore volume measured by nitrogen porosimetry of 0.1-0.6 ml/g, a BET specific surface of 100-600 m 2>/g, pore volumes in pores of diameter above 140, above 160, above 200 and above 500 Angstroms of less than 0.1, 0.1, 0.1 and 0.01 ml/g respectively (all measured by mercury porosimetry), a tamped bulk density above 0.85 g/cm 3>, and an x-ray diffraction pattern with at least principal lines characteristic of alpha, rho, chi, eta, gamma, kappa, theta or delta alumina. Independent claims are also included for: (1) catalyst support as above; (2) hydrocracking and/or hydroconversion of hydrocarbon feeds using a catalyst as above or a catalyst comprising a support as above; (3) hydrotreating of hydrocarbon feeds using a catalyst as above or a catalyst comprising a support as above.
|
