The method involves preparing data sub-set to be backed-up from a set, and transmitting to a server (2). Back-up is delayed to make a mobile (3) available for a user, after transmission of the data sub-set to the server. A clock (22) is set by the mobile, and a recovery signal (24) is transmitted to a chip card (1) at the delay deadline, to recover the back-up at the end of delay.
