<p>A fluid delivery system is described where sterile liquid is delivered efficiently to a number of remote locations while maintaining a continuous flow in order to prevent any bacterial growth. The system includes a storage tank 52 feeding a pipework loop 54, where the loop 54 returns the liquid to the tank 52, a pump 60 providing the means for fluid flow in the loop 54, and a return manifold 64. The system also includes at least one pipework branch 56 fed from the tank 52. The branch 56 has a second pump 62 and terminates at a branch manifold 66. Between the branch manifold 66 and return manifold 64 are connected one or more supply hoses 64C, 66C interrupted by an offtake component 68 which is a simple valve opening through which the liquid can be selectively delivered at the desired location. When one or more offtakes 68 are opened, the conventional fluid flow in the hose which links that offtake to the return manifold is reversed on account of the pressures at which the two pumps in the pipework loop 54 and the pipework branches 56 operate. This type of operation allows as many or as few offtakes in the system to be opened simultaneously without any practical reduction in the availability of liquid.</p> |
