The carriage has a permanent magnet motor (28) with a terminal (44) connected to a terminal of an electric energy storage cell (26) and a terminal (46) connected to drain electrode (48) of an N-channel MOS transistor (42). The transistor has a gate electrode (54) supplied with a gate voltage (56). The transistor controls speed of the motor based on ratio between period of a positive and null value of the voltage.
