The method involves evaluating precision of interpolation that presents a function (G) of characteristic parameters of optical connections of a network. The evaluation is done by measuring error rates relating to signals transmitted along given paths, and by comparing each measured error rate value to the corresponding estimated error rate value through the function during usage of the network.
