The adjuster has screw-nut assembly having an irreversible screw thread angle and comprising a fixed nut part (11) and a screw part (12) movable in the nut. A compression spring (15) actuates the screw-nut assembly during under tension of a cable (8). A torsion spring (16) blocks the screw-nut assembly during an over tension of the cable. The compression spring is provided between the nut and a cable stop (14). Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a window regulator comprising a cable for actuating movement of the window regulator and a cable adjuster (B) a leaf of motor vehicle comprising a cable driving device having a cable adjuster.
