PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aminophenol compound suitably used as a raw material for thermosetting resins excellent in heat resistance, and the thermosetting resin expressing excellence in heat resistance without degrading mechanical strengths, moisture resistance, electrical characteristics and various other characteristics and provide a method for producing the resin. SOLUTION: The aminophenol compound has an aromatic group having an aminophenol structure-containing group in a main chain. In the aminophenol compound, the aminophenol structure is an o-aminohydroxyphenoxy structure. The thermosetting resin has aromatic groups each having a substituent containing an amidophenol structure having an organic group on an amino bonded carbon.
