PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeding device capable of reducing the colliding sound emitted when a sheet stacking means runs against a feed rotor and reducing frictional flaws on the sheet obverse and reverse surfaces generated when sheets are separated. SOLUTION: The sheet feeding device is structured so that the torque in the sheet feeding direction of a separator rotor 4 is transmitted to the stacking means 6 through a torque limiter 5, and the stacking means 6 is moved from the pause position to the feeding position when the rotor 4 makes following rotation in the sheet feeding direction, and if thereafter the sheet abuts to the rotor 3, the torque limiter 5 is actuated to give a predetermined pressure between the sheet and the rotor 3 through the stacking means 6 and also give a predetermined rotational resistance to the rotor 4.
