PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely correct skew of a recording medium in an image forming part, and to enhance durability. SOLUTION: A thermal head 5 and a platen roller 6 are arranged in a noncontact state via a minute gap g which inhibits the passage of recording paper 15, and the platen roller 6 is connected to a driving source via an electromagnetic clutch. A control means maintains a stopped state of the platen roller 6 until a predetermined deflection 15a is formed at a leading end of the recording paper 15 after the leading end of the recording paper 15 is detected by a paper sensor 7. After the skew of the recording paper 15 is corrected, the control means turns on the electromagnetic clutch, and makes an image formed by the thermal head 5.
