PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide device and its coating method comprising a sliding surface small in a difference between a coefficient of dynamic friction and a coefficient of static friction, by realizing the high speed movement and high load capacity, in a guide device of a machine tool. SOLUTION: A surface 2 of a fixed body is a surface polished after quenching, and a surface of a moving body 3 is a steel material in its base material 10. The surfaces are realized by the machine tool having the guide device characterized by coating a surface of the steel material with a film 11 of nitride, and coating the film of the nitride with a film 12 of DLC.
