Devices that have been turned off are remote controlled via a communication network. One or more controlled devices (17) each include an ROM (37) that has stored the MAC address of that controlled device (17) and also include a network control IC (35) for reading and transmitting the MAC address from the ROM (37) to a control device (25) via a LAN (1). The control device (25) receives one or more MAC addresses from the respective one or more controlled devices (17) via the LAN (1), then stores the received one or more MAC addresses into a cache memory (22), and then uses the one or more MAC addresses stored in the cache memory (22) to control the respective one or more controlled devices (17).
