<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen storage material in which heat quantity when storing or releasing hydrogen can be reduced, and further, the remaining amount of stored hydrogen can be easily confirmed. <P>SOLUTION: The hydrogen storage material is composed of metal particulates having a particle diameter of less than the critical particle diameter to suppress the formation of a hydride phase.
