<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy storage type heat pump water heater with a small energy storage part, having energy saving compact construction while sufficiently utilizing inexpensive midnight power. <P>SOLUTION: The heat pump water heater comprises a heat pump cycle having a compressor 17, a first radiator 18, an expansion valve 19, and an evaporator 16, a battery 22 for storing system power, and a hot water storage tank 23 for storing supplied hot water heated by utilizing the heat of the first radiator 18.
