<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a user easily recognize the number of presently displayed conversion candidates to the number of all the conversion candidates, and a portion corresponding to the presently displayed conversion candidates among all the conversion candidates when performing prediction conversion candidate display for retrieving the conversion candidate predicted with conversion to an inputted character from a dictionary and displaying it. <P>SOLUTION: A character predicted to be converted from the inputted character is retrieved from the dictionary and displayed on a display part, and a scroll bar 21 is displayed in a residual area of the display part. The scroll bar 21 has a full length corresponding to the number of all the retrieved conversion candidates, and an expansion/contraction bar 23 of a length corresponding to 'the display number of the presently displayed conversion candidates to the number of all the conversion candidates' is displayed inside it.
