PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can prevent malfunctions such as a failure, without damage to usability. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus comprises a casing which movably holds at least a printhead, a contact detecting means for detecting that the casing is placed on a printing medium, and an attitude detecting means.
